Stanton Rainbows

Rainbows are the 5 to 7 year olds of the Girlguiding movement. The cost of Rainbows is £36 a term which includes the hire of the hall, badges, craft items and the GirlGuiding Annual census.

We are in the process of starting a new programme, which will be phased in over the next year.  It is Putting Every Girl First, so trying to meet the needs of today’s girls.  We have six themes to help girls build skills– Know Myself, Express Myself, Be Well, Have Adventures, Take Action and Skills for my Future.  There will be new badges to work for, some in groups and some indivdually with maybe some help from the leaders. We will also do activities every week towards other badges. It is all new to us and we are looking forward to it.

The girls have fun playing games, making things, having stories, learning new things and making new friends as some of the girls come from different villages in the area.

Hullavington WI was formed in 1961 and continues to go from strength to strength. We hold monthly meetings in the village hall when we have speakers,or do craft activities, and have an annual barbecue in a members garden. We have outings at least once a year, having been to the Royal Mint, SS Great Britain and Tyntesfield in the past 3 years. These trips have been opened up to family and friends in the village as we always hire a coach so there is plenty of room for all. Members have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities arranged by our Federation. These range from craft activities such as patchwork, bag making and mono printing to sports activities such as archery, clay pigeon shooting, walking netball and croquet. The Public Affairs committee involves itself in events of national importance such as mental health, loneliness, electric cars and also visits to places such as the Wessex Water Treatment Centre at Trowbridge. Holidays are also arranged by the Federation, the latest one having been spent in Yorkshire and the next one in October to Cheshire.
